Italian Appetizers at Reno’s La Famiglia – The Favorites

The appetizer is intended to whet the appetite before the main course. And the very best Italian appetizers should be shared around the table – just enough of something delicious that it makes you look forward to the next dish. At La Famiglia Ristorante Italiano in Reno, our appetizer menu is filled with classic Italian starters. Today, we’re featuring some of our customer’s favorites.

This appetizer is as delicious as it beautifully simple. Toasted bread is topped with a flavorful fig jam, then topped with gorgonzola, caramelized onions, prosciutto and, of course, fresh sliced figs. The dish is served warm and each bite is perfectly balanced – the crumbly, savory cheese, the salty cured meat, and the sweet fruit. It’s easy to see why our fig crostini is so popular!

Mediterranean Bruschetta

This classic appetizer is similar to the fig crostini in that bread is used as the base. In this case, it’s grilled ciabatta topped with olive oil and salt, then heaped with a flavorful mix of tomatoes, capers, Kalamata olives, roasted peppers and Parmigiana-Reggiano. Bruschetta has been called the original garlic bread, but this is definitely a more elegant and delicious choice.

Beef Carpaccio

Beef carpaccio is very thinly sliced or pounded cuts of raw beef. It’s incredibly flavorful and seems to melt in your mouth. The best beef carpaccio begins with the very best beef fillet, and La Famiglia is proud to source local, prime beef for a difference you can taste. Our beef carpaccio is served with arugula, capers and shaved Parmigiana-Reggiano. Delizioso!

You can’t have an Italian appetizers list without antipasto. Perhaps the most popular Italian appetizer, this dish is a symphony of classic Italian flavors. In different regions of Italy, antipasto will feature different meats, cheeses and vegetables. Here at La Famiglia, our antipasto misto for two is a luscious blend of soppressata, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, mortadella, olives and tomato.

If your mouth is watering, we understand. Join us for weekday lunch or dinner every evening, and start your meal with one (or more) of our incredible Italian appetizers. It’s the perfect start to what’s sure to be a wonderful meal.
